St. Fintan’s National School Sutton Parents’ Association

Class Parent Representative Role

The class representative role was established to facilitate communication between the parents and the Parents’ Association. This is especially important in the younger classes where parents may be new to the school.

The Class Representative role involves the following responsibilities:

1.     PA and Class Liaison

To act as a liaison between the parents of your class and the Parents Association and it is intended that the class representative becomes a member of the PA.

2.     Class Contact List

Collate and maintain a class contact list and send PA text communications as required. It is important that class representatives respect the confidentiality and personal choice of the parents and each parent must have given consent for his or her details to be used in a class contact list. In some instances a parent may be willing to let the class representative have their contact details, but may not want them to be circulated to the rest of the class. Please note this information should be used solely for school communication within that class and is not to be made available to other class representatives or indeed anyone outside the parents of that class.

Tiqbiz is the main tool for both the school and PA to communicate with Parents therefore the class representative will not be required to convey too many message throughout the school year.

3.     Communication

Make new parents welcome and generally encourage communication amongst parents including organising a few coffee mornings and nights out over the school year.

4.     Teachers Presents

Just before both the Christmas and Summer breaks send a class text to give parents the option of contributing to a class present for the teacher, stressing that this is completely optional and then co-ordinate.

3.     Activities
